Creator Payout Terms
If you publish on Gasp, you earn a share of what viewers spend on your episodes. This document says how much, how it is worked out, and when and how it is paid.
Draft, pending legal review. This document is placeholder copy written to describe how Gasp actually works. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not yet binding.

1. Who this covers
These terms apply to every creator who publishes an episode on Gasp, whether it was generated in the studio or uploaded. They sit alongside the Terms of Service, which still govern your account and your content.
Earnings accrue from your first published episode. To be paid you set up payouts from your Earnings page, which creates a Stripe account for you; by doing so you agree to these terms. At launch payouts are available to creators in the United States. If you are elsewhere, your balance still accrues; write to us and we will tell you when your country is supported.
2. What you earn
Viewers pay in two ways, and both count for you:
- Coin unlocks. When a viewer spends coins to unlock one of your episodes, you keep 70% of the value of those coins. Coins are valued at our largest pack’s rate (5,000 coins for $34.99), whatever pack the viewer actually bought.
- The VIP pool. Each calendar month, 55% of the VIP subscription revenue we receive forms a pool. The pool is split between creators in proportion to the qualifying VIP plays of their episodes that month.
A qualifying play is one VIP subscriber watching one of your episodes on one calendar day (UTC) for at least 30 seconds, or half the episode if it is shorter, or to the end. The same viewer watching the same episode again that day does not count twice. A play counts only while the viewer’s VIP is active and only on an episode that would otherwise be locked for them; free episodes earn nothing from coins or from the pool. Your own views of your own episodes never count.
3. How it is worked out
- Earnings are grouped by calendar month in UTC. An unlock share is recorded the moment the viewer unlocks; the pool is split when the month closes.
- Every entry keeps the rate that was in force when it was earned. A later change to a rate never rewrites an earlier entry.
- Amounts are whole cents, rounded down. The fraction of a cent left over by rounding stays with Gasp.
- Your Earnings page shows the running balance, each month as it accrues, what every series and episode has earned, and every entry in and out.
4. When and how you are paid
- We close each month on the 3rd of the following month, once card payments from the last days of the month have settled.
- At the close, a balance of $50.00 or more is paid out. A smaller balance carries forward and is paid when it reaches the minimum.
- Payouts are transfers in US dollars to a Stripe Connect Express account in your name, made under Stripe’s Connected Account Agreement, which you accept when you set up payouts. Stripe then pays your bank on its own schedule; bank details, identity checks and tax details live in your Stripe dashboard, not on Gasp.
- If Stripe cannot accept a transfer, or asks you for more information first, the amount stays on your balance and is retried at the next close once your account is in order.
5. Refunds, reversals and adjustments
- A refund of a coin purchase never reduces what you have already earned from those coins.
- A refunded VIP subscription reduces the pool for the month in which it is refunded.
- If a transfer to you is reversed, the amount goes back on your balance and is included in the next close.
- We may adjust a balance to correct an error, or to remove earnings from plays or unlocks that were manufactured (for example a subscription used to farm plays on your own or a partner’s series) or that came from content removed for breaking the Terms or the Content Guidelines. Every adjustment appears on your Earnings page with a note.
6. Taxes
Amounts we pay you are gross of any tax you owe on them. You are responsible for reporting and paying your own taxes. Stripe may ask you for tax details as part of setting up payouts and may issue tax forms where the law requires it.
7. Changes and ending
We may change the rates, the minimum, the qualifying-play rule or the supported countries. Changes apply to earnings after the change, with notice on your Earnings page, and never to earnings already recorded.
If your account is closed for a breach of the Terms, earnings from the content in breach may be withheld. Otherwise, if you stop publishing or close your account, a remaining balance above the minimum is paid at the next close.
